A Command Performance
18 attendees
This week’s meeting was incredibly energetic and vibrant. It was also a great opportunity to showcase the best our club has to offer. A new crop of potential members and our talented veteran members was the perfect backdrop for our highest turnout in over two years.
After another thoughtful invocation by Sergeant at Arms Cynthia Jimerson, newcomer Jason Nishiyama provided our Word of the Day, scintillating. It was a great contribution because it was used at least four times by others during the meeting.
New member Mimi Htut served as the Table Topics Master for the fist time as well. Members and guest gave their opinions on Advertising's effect on kids (Jason Nishiyama), New York or Los Angeles (member David Gold), Advertising's influence (Cynthia Jimerson) and being a train chaser (guest Reynard Price).
The main event was club Secretary Kathy Hendry's presentation. Her fifth speech in the Advanced Communications Program Interpretive Reading, she knocked our socks off with a 12-15 minute presentation of an act from "The Importance of Being Earnest".
Kathy was very dynamic, switching between characters smoothly, using wonderful props such as an eyepiece and scarf and keeping the audience entranced in the action.
We also welcomed guests from the LA Civic Center Toastmasters group and Area Governor Michael Gholampour made a few announcements and gave insightful tips.
Speech: Joe Simpson – Advanced Communications Program (Special Occasion Speeches) Project 5
