Club Secretary Kathy Hendry provided Invocation and Pledge; First-time Toastmaster Jennifer Gill (VP of Membership) handled opening the program by sharing insight on Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) before handing the program over to long-time member and Sergeant at Arms, Cynthia Jimerson for Table Topics.
Thoughtful as always, Cynthia asked the colorful Raynard Price to talk about people who stay in the middle on certain issues (they get run over); Newcomer Melissa Rosen talked about being an old soul in a young person's body; and Jennifer talked about staying up and burning the
The main feature of the program was two speeches by the two longest standing members in the club, Kathy Hendry and Club Treasurer Gene Hargreaves. Kathy shared “A Folk Tale” from the Storytelling Advanced Communication Series manual. It was a twist on the childhood favorite the Three Little Pigs and it was told from atop a table, seemingly from a glowing fire camp side. We learned that five pigs encountered the mean old wolf and Kathy’s delivery enhanced the storytelling even more. Kathy’s choice of subject matter is her trademark and her delivery brought this cautionary tale come to life. Well done.
During his fifteen years being involved with Toastmasters he gave tips on speaking about what others want to hear. Very informative and dynamically delivered replete with hand gestures and great vocal variety.
Stop by for Raynard Price's Icebreaker and Club President Joe Simpson's first speech in the Humorous Speaking Advanced Manual. Bring lunch, a friend and there WILL be a surprise in it for you. See you there.
