Word of the Day – Feral

Getting the word out - Tuesday’s meeting served as an abbreviated program amended to discuss club business. President Joe Simpson discussed plans to “get the word out”. Some ideas suggested were to broadcast email notices to the general Metro employee population on the day of the meetings, display posters/sign on the plaza, third and fifteenth floors in addition to fliers on all floors and our club email newsletter. As members it was also suggested to mention the club to fellow co-workers, drop in on the New Employee Orientations each week to get more of our peers involved.

New Members Library - members now have a free resource to continue their advanced programs. We've purchased the complete Advanced Communication Series library from Toastmasters, Int'l. Simply check out the advanced manual you’d like to work on, copy the project form (including evaluation and signature sheet) and get to work. As a paying member, you shouldn’t need to invest in manuals – save that money for increased gas prices. Contact Joe Simpson at 22353 (Club President) for more information.

Other Toastmaster Club Visits - Today's Toastmaster, Jennifer Gill (VP Membership) spoke to our group about her visit to the DWP Toastmasters Thursday past. DWP’s club, led by our District Governor Michael Gholampur was very energetic and lively bunch according to Jennifer. They had about 20 visitors and the meeting was held in the Board room decorated with a nice banner and materials. She presented her Kilimanjaro speech to this group and although there was a slight technical snafu, the crowd enjoyed her speech and someone even stated that her story helped them “see into her soul.” What a great compliment! Thanks Jennifer and kudos to you!

Visiting other clubs is a great way to present your speeches in an unfamiliar setting out of the comfort of our third floor conference room and help you grow as a communicator.

Note – Start off March by ‘re-visiting’ the club and sharing your experiences with us. Make a resolution to achieve your CC or just speak on table topics – we’d enjoy having you back!
